The children across the school enjoyed collected recyclable materials to create an outfit for their classmate to wear. Mrs Collinson judged all costumes to the best and awarded a certificate to every class and every class enjoyed an extra 15 minutes playtime. Well done to all!
Science Council voted on a science week visitor to wow us with some science linked to adaptation and change and it was ZooLab who topped the voting pole. Rob visited and brought in a tarantula (typically from the desert), a giant snail (rainforest habitat), a snake (grassland habitat), rats and cockroaches. We learned about lots of different characteristics which the different animals have that help them survive where they live. We got to hold/ stroke them if we wanted to and had a brilliant time.
Pupils took part in school a competition where they were asked to create a front cover and a blurb for a book they would like to read.
Year have taken part in a range of activities for British science week.
Everyone at Biddick Hall Junior school enjoyed World Book Day 2025. We were lucky to have a visit from author Pauline Waters.
On Number Day we came into school wearing a number and did LOADS of fun things linked to Maths! Throughout the school, we did activities including solving a theft by solving logic puzzles; graffiti maths where we wrote down everything we knew about maths on large sheets of paper; investigating spirals and how to make different patterns by following an algorithm; playing maths games and puzzles with each other and we did some active maths where we danced around the room solving addition and subtraction problems as well as lots of other activities. We had such good fun and realised that there’s more to maths than just numbers!!
Year 3 children took part in Divali workshop. We found out about how Hindus celebrate Divali and some of us dressed up. We found out about the importance of the goddess Lakshmi for Hindus.
Father Mervyn joined us to celebrate our Harvest Festival at Biddick Hall Junior school. Thanks you to all our parents and carers who donated food items. They were distributed to two local foodbanks. They were very grateful that you shared your harvest gifts with them.
