This week in Science Council club we made sherbet using different powders like citric acid and icing sugar, flavouring and a choice of dippers.
This week in Science Council we made hover boards using old CDs, fruit shoot lids and balloons. We had fun testing the hover capabilities!
To celebrate Space Week this week, Science Council made their own rockets that use air pressure to take off and fly into the air!
Erupting volcano fun in Science Council club. Look at this fabulous task we did at club: we made play dough volcanos and then created our own chemical reaction to make it look like lava erupting – it was very cool!
Science Council had fun at club doing some chemistry: they worked with acids and alkalis in the form of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar to create a reaction and change of property.
Picking up litter is important for both environmental and personal well-being. It helps reduce pollution, protects wildlife and ecosystems, and can boost mental and physical health. Additionally, it can foster a sense of community and encourage responsible behaviour. Science Council did a great job at filling about 5 large bin bags.
Science Council have had a busy year this year meeting with
Ofsted inspectors, planning Science week challenges in
school, working with School Council to run a recycled outfit
competition, thinking of science jokes, creating puzzle
booklets, handing out free toothbrushes for all pupils, litter
picking around the school grounds and doing some
experiments too.
Naia, Amelia, Mia, Sophia, Rubi, Kane, Harrison, Freya and
Lily have been a pleasure to work alongside and I thank them
for their hard work and motivation.
This week in Science Council we all met together and created chemical reactions between bicarbonate of soda and vinegar to create some spooky potions. We also had a special visitor, Mrs Hayward, who came in to meet us and help.
Science Council have been using dog biscuits to explore vertebrates and recreate skeletons of various animals. It was good fun thinking about bone size and positioning using such a creative resource. Year 5 and 6 even studied x rays and tried some trickier vertebrates like frogs and lizards.
