Year 3 Diwali workshop.

24th October 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Year 3 took part in a Diwali workshop. We learned all about the important gods and goddesses of the Hindu religion. Some of the children took part in a re-enactment of the story of Rama and Sita and enjoyed getting dressed up. We found out all about the festival of Diwali and had the chance to have our face painted and our hand stamped with a Rangoli pattern, just like Hindus do during the festival.

Year 4 football.

24th October 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Year 4 went to a football tournament at Boldon School. They played against different schools trying their best. Unfortunately, we didn’t win any medals but all children received a certificate.

Mrs Lynn was very proud of all the children. They tried their best and were an outstanding representation of the school.

Year 6 visited the Mosque.

24th October 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Year 6 visited the Al-Azhar Mosque in South Shields to find out more about religion in our local community. When we arrived, we had to take off our shoes and we went upstairs to the prayer room.  Sohail told us all about how Muslims pray and he showed us a prayer mat.  He told us all about the five pillars of Islam and how important these are to Muslims.  We also went into the women’s only prayer room to have a look around.  Sohail then demonstrated to us how a Muslim performs ‘Wudu’, the process of washing prior to prayer. It was a really informative visit and we learned a lot.

24th October 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Year 6 visited the fire station to take part in the RAP event which was all about how to reduce accidents at play. We took part in 7 different sessions which were about how to stay safe near water, when around electricity pylons, when on the metro and what to do if there is a fire. We had a fantastic morning and learned so much about how to keep ourselves safe!

24th October 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Science Council have had great fun this half term making pop and Mentos geysers, spooky cauldron mixtures, Halloween lights from milk bottles and experimenting with pencils being pierced through zip lock bags of water. It has been a fun half term that’s for sure.

Roald Dahl Day!

20th October 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

We celebrated Roald Dahl Day on Wednesday 13th September.  Staff and children were encouraged to wear yellow (because this was Roald Dahl’s favourite colour) and pay £1 for the Dahlicious charity.  As well as finding out about Roald Dahl and his charity some of our lessons were linked to a Roald Dahl book.

One of the lessons was a competition. We read extracts from the BFG and then linked with this the children drew something in a jar, like the ones the BFG had, that they would like to see in a dream.  We had great fun!
