Drawing with charcoal – Year 3

20th October 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

As part of their prehistoric art topic, the children in Year 3 have been up-scaling a drawing of an animal native to Britain using charcoal. We have been fascinated by cave paintings, which show how people lived in the Stone Age, and we wanted to create the texture of cave walls by breaking charcoal sticks and rubbing it all over our paper. We are really pleased with the results.

Golfways Skills Festival – Year 3

20th October 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

A group of 10 children from Year 3 were chosen to take part in the Golfways Skills Festival at Temple Park. For some children, this was the first time ever holding a golf club, but everyone had a fantastic time learning a new sporting skill. The children enjoyed the different challenges throughout and loved trying to beat their Personal Best Scores. Well done, Year 3!

Year 5 ‘Healthy Bolognese.’

21st July 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

In Year 5, we have been looking at healthy Bolognese recipes.  We looked at a traditional recipe and how it could be improved by adding more vegetables and removing some of the fat, salt and sugar.  In groups, we designed our own recipes and then came together to create a mega recipe! We prepared the vegetables (the bridge grip was useful at keeping our fingers safe from the knife!) and then we sautéed them gently in olive oil.  We added chopped tomatoes and passata and then left it to simmer for 40 minutes. We blended the sauce to make it smooth and then mixed it with some linguini.  A sprinkling of salt and pepper was added and we tucked in! Most of us tasted it with the majority of people absolutely loving it, coming back for seconds!
