Well done to everyone on completing your active challenges and filling your PE Passport! We all really enjoyed completing the different activities throughout Healthy Lifestyles Week.
For one of our Mental Health Week activities in Year 5, we designed our own fitness circuits that can
be completed in our homes! We included equipment that you would find around a house such as
teddies and tins of food. To make sure they were suitable, we tried them out ourselves! We are
going to post some of these circuits online for the children at home to complete in their PE lesson on
Thursday. Some of the stations are very tiring and are definitely going to be a challenge!
If you are looking for ways to make sure that your children are still getting their 60 minutes of physical activity whilst at home and you are also looking for home schooling ideas, then have a go at one of these!
We all enjoyed taking part in The Daily Mile!
Our Netball Team played in their first tournament yesterday at Temple Park. We won the first game against Ridgeway 7-0, lost the second game against Stanhope 1-0 and won the final game against Harton 2-0.
Those results meant we went through to the play-offs where we played against Lord Blyton. It was a very tight game: at full time we had drawn 2-2 and were given 2 minutes extra time. Unfortunately, they scored one more goal meaning the final score was 3-2 to Lord Blyton. We won’t be progressing to the finals but we played extremely well and Miss Archer was very impressed, as always, with our level of skill and determination. We will now be getting ready for the league matches.
Two teams of children attended a benchball tournament at Boldon school. The children worked well in their teams and were excellent representatives of our school.
Year 5 enjoyed a Handball taster session with a coach from the Newcastle Vikings Handball Team. We had a great afternoon being introduced to the skills needed to play this sport.
