Child Safety Week

6th June 2018a hayward

As part of Child Safety Week, South Tyneside Safeguarding Children Board, in partnership with South Tyneside Council and multi-agency partners, is launching a campaign ‘Safe children – together we have got this’. This includes a series of 30 events running in Children’s Centres across South Tyneside to help promote child safety and accident prevention messages.

Accidents and injuries can occur in many areas of day-to-day life, from falls, road safety, pet safety, dangers with cooking and hot drinks, internal burns from batteries, accidental poisoning, and choking from blind cords, small toys or nappy sacks.

Accidents and injuries can be prevented.

For top tips and advice on keeping children safe, visit Child Safety Week

Year 3 Multi-Skills Festival!

12th April 2018S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

On 22nd March, 30 children from Year 3 went to Temple Park to take part in a Multi-Skills Festival.

We had the opportunity to practise skills such as, dribbling with a football; throwing and catching; standing long jumps; chest pushes with a weighted ball and relay races.

Each event was scored and our Biddick A and B teams both scored 84 points, meaning we were placed in joint 3rd position.

It was a really fun morning and a great opportunity to add some exercise to our day.

Our behaviour and attitude throughout the whole morning was excellent and Miss Archer said it was a pleasure to take us there.

Year 5 moon buggies!

12th April 2018S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Linking to our science topics of Earth, Sun and Moon and Forces, we were given a design brief to make a moon buggy that could carry 3 moon rocks (rubbers).  We investigated different types of circuit, axle, chassis and pulley, deciding which we wanted to use for our vehicle.  After a lot of trial and error, perseverance and problem solving, we all managed to make a moon buggy that travelled forwards (some more successfully than others!) We then raced them at the end to see which was the champion.  After a slight technical difficulty to start with, Coben, Kieran and Harvey made the moon buggy with the smoothest ride, most steady speed and straightest line of travel – well done boys!

World Book Day Winners!

12th April 2018S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

For our ‘World Book Day’ children came to school dressed up either as a book character or in their pyjamas.  During the day they took part in world book day activities and each year group was given the opportunity to spend an hour in the hall with an author called ‘Yvonne Carlinpage’, where they learned about what inspired her to write and the techniques she uses.  Every child received a £1 book token too.

One of the activities was a competition, in which children had to design their own book token.  Here are our winners!

4CL Visit to the Open Zone

12th April 2018S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

On our visit to the Open Zone we enjoyed writing scripts about Yellowstone National Park. Once our scripts were ready we went into the recording studio and made our own television programme.

We also used Lego We2 to make and programme robots.
