Year 6 visit the Centre for Life.

30th June 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

As part of our ‘Light’ unit we visited the Centre for Life. It was an amazing day. We rotated zones, live shows and a ‘Light’ workshop where we used prisms, light sources, spray, magnifying glasses, maze resources, mini disco balls and laser beams to explore the path of light, how to alter it and how to create rainbow colours using bubbles and prisms to show the spectrum of light. We also learned about scientists like Isaac Newton who have ‘light’ links.

Cooking in Year 6 in Design and Technology lessons.

26th June 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

In Design and Technology lessons, year 6 are working in groups to prepare either a starter dish using peppers, a main dish using salmon fillet or a dessert that uses pineapple as the main ingredient.

This week our start pairs created some wonderful concoctions ranging from pepper and vegetable soup to stuffed peppers using rice, cheese, capers and even anchovies to red pepper salsa nachos and finally minced beef and red pepper salad tacos. The pupils worked tenaciously and thoroughly enjoyed the cooking opportunity. Their manners and skill building in the school kitchen were first class and then when their groups joined them at the end of the cooking session, all were able to taste test the dishes and rate them.

Mighty Minds Sessions

23rd June 2023a hayward
Mighty Minds is a programme which helps children learn about and understand the different feelings they experience, as well as introducing a variety of grounding techniques which children can take home with them and practice at school, at home or whenever they feel overwhelmed.
Being able to regulate our emotions is an important skill that young people begin to develop at an early age; statistics show that there is a decline in young people being able to regulate their emotions and an increase in mental health within young people aged 8-12 years.
Mighty Minds is completely free to all young people, and takes place every Friday starting August 4th and ending September 1st 2023. Each session will run for an hour from 4:00 – 5:00 PM at st marks and st cuthberts church, quarry lane, NE34 7NP.
Families must register before the programme as we have consent forms and medical information forms that will be emailed to parents / guardians.
