Spotlight Dance Academy are excited to be working in partnership with South Tyneside Council to deliver a HAF-funded Summer Programme and this time it is BIGGER than ever!

Each day will run from 9:30am – 2:00pm at our custom built dance studio in the heart of South Shields town centre, with the interchange being just a few minutes walk away.
We have a limited number of fully funded places available for children eligible for means-tested free school meals. These places include free attendance, plus lunch and snacks on both days.

These camps are open to children across the borough, so early booking is advised.
Healthy Minds Team are hosting a 2-hour workshop for parents/carers and children,
offering support and practical strategies to help with transitions.
If your child is feeling worried about moving between key stages or
starting a new school, we would love you to come along and join us.
The workshop will include advice, guidance, and activities for you to
practise together. It will start at 10:00 and last approximately two hours.
You do not need to book but you will need to arrive ready to start at 10:00am for the start of the workshop.

RSE ConsultationÂ
As you may be aware, The Department for Education have announced changes to Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). We are therefore obliged to comply with the updated requirements which come into force in September 2026. This means, that alongside everything else, we have been in the process of reviewing our RSE curriculum and policy, so we can be sure our provision meets the Government criteria and is appropriate for our children based on:
- Age
- Physical and emotional maturity
- Religious and cultural backgrounds
- Special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)
- What pupils need to know to be healthy and safe in school, in their personal relationships and in the wider world
At Biddick Hall Junior School we value the education provided by the RSE and PSHE curriculum in preparing our children for the wider world, their place in it and to be respectful, tolerant and accepting of all. We would very much welcome your support and comments, so we would like to share with you a parent and carer consultation document.

We enjoyed finding out about different habitats. We met Shelby the tortoise, some snails and stick insects.
We made a choice chamber for a woodlouse to find out which conditions they prefer to live in.
The children had a great first night. They enjoyed their time in the barn.
