Following the theme for this year’s World book Day ‘You Are a Reader’, our competition asked pupils to create a picture of themselves reading a book.  It could be in their favourite place like on the sofa or in the garden.  They could also use their imagination and draw a picture of a place they dream of reading a book – like in a rocket or on a sunny beach.

Classes chose a video clip to watch as a stimulus and then completed a writing activity.  One winner was chosen per class.

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 4^th March.  As part of this day the children took part in many different activities linked to books.  Year threes activities were mainly focused around a book called ‘Dirty Beasts’ by Roald Dahl, year fours tasks were based around a book from a series, ‘You’re a Bad Man, Mr Gum!’ by Andy Stanton’, year 5 completed tasks that linked to a book called ‘Wolf Brother’ by Michelle Paver’ and year sixes work focused on a story called ‘Malala’s Magic pencil’. We also listened to a virtual reading from an author called Stuart Reid.  Many of us dressed up as book characters in school and at home.
