School Exclusions Week (12th-16th May 2025)
The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) will be hosting School Exclusions Week in South Tyneside from Monday 12th May-Friday 16th May!
Free events will take place throughout the week which are open to parents and carers, young people and professionals with the aim of raising awareness of school exclusions, the wider impact on families and the support available within South Tyneside. A limited amount of events require prior booking (Parent Carer Tea Clinic, Exclusions & Part-Time Timetables Workshop and CYP Creative Arts Session), which can be done via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/south-tyneside-sendiass-31323926281
Parents/Carers, young people and professionals are invited to a ‘drop-in’ event on Tuesday 13th May from 4-6pm in the Town Hall Reception Room. The SENDIAS Service will be displaying the Project 2,999 Blanket, created with 2,999 individual crocheted squares; made with parents and carers, children, schools and communities, the blanket serves as a visual representation of the sheer volume of children who experience school exclusions. There is no need to book to attend, feel free to ‘drop-in’ between 4 and 6pm, refreshments will be provided.

IAS in South Tyneside Events (June 19th 2025)
As part of Learning Disability Week, we will be holding our annual IAS in South Tyneside event, which provides an opportunity for families and professionals to find out more about the services available within South Tyneside.
The event takes place on Thursday 19th June from 3.45-5.45pm at Epinay School.

Healthier Together website and app – excellent resources to enable people to make informed decisions about accessing appropriate local healthcare services for their baby, child or young person. The website also contains a cost-of-living resources section to signpost vulnerable families to local sources of support in each area.
South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust have launched a platform of new Mental Health websites for patients living in South Tyneside, Sunderland and Gateshead The websites aim to support people if they are struggling with their mental health and have been given a new look to launch 2025. The new websites act as a one stop page for residents of South Tyneside, Sunderland and Gateshead with South Tyneside having its own designated section and can be accessed by visiting www.stsftmentalhealth.nhs.uk
Groundwork Shop – Groundwork – The shop sells a treasure trove of wonders, including hoovers, three-piece suites, TVs and a range of children’s toys such as electric cars and go karts. Donations are cleaned, small repairs made, and electrical goods are PAT tested, before being sold on at an affordable cost, making the goods accessible to residents who may find it difficult to purchase the same item full price.
