Free Counselling

North East Counselling Services have funding to provide counselling free of charge to people who live in South Tyneside who’s mental health has been impacted by Corona Virus. Funding is limited but they can deliver support by Zoom or telephone.

To access counselling people can be referred in by their GP, make a self-referral by visiting the website www.necounselling.org.uk or call the office on 0191 4661314. Please mention South Tyneside Corona Counselling to access the counselling free.

SEND Parents Q & A

You are invited to take part in one of South Tyneside’s new virtual Q & A sessions happening on:

Tuesday 21st October 10:30-11:00, Wednesday 22nd October 19:00-19:30 or Thursday 23rd October 13:30-14:00.

This an opportunity for parents and carers to ask questions and share experiences of SEND services for children and young people in South Tyneside.

You’ll also hear about the exciting new approach to involving parents and carers in decisions about SEND services in the borough.

This ‘question and answer’ session is the first step in a new engagement approach that will ensure parents have a strong voice in the provision of SEND services in South Tyneside. We hope you’ll join us on this exciting journey to improve services for families and our SEND Local Offer.

Andy Ritchie (Service Manager – SEND Access & Inclusion) will answer your questions about SEND services for children and young people in South Tyneside and the help and support available for their families. You’ll also meet Mehrnaz and Becca, our new SEND Participation Workers, as well as Catherine Ratcliffe from Contact (a support organisation for Parent Carer Forums).

World Mental Health Day

The World Health Organisation recognises World Mental Health Day on 10 October every year. This year’s theme set by the World Federation for Mental Health is ‘mental health for all’.

World Mental Health Day 2020 is the most important one yet. The months of lockdown and loss have had a huge impact on us all, and prioritising mental health has never been more important than it is now.
