Christmas in the community!

18th December 2019S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

In the second Autumn half term, the school council decided that they were going to do something for the local community.  In the penultimate week of term, our school choir usually go to Blenkinsop Court (a local care home) and sing Christmas carols and take shop bought cards for the residents, some of whom don’t receive any cards at all. We thought it would be a nice idea to hand-make some Christmas cards and put a personal message inside for the residents.  It took a long time, but we managed to make 42 unique cards which were delivered by the choir members who are also a part school council.  The residents were over the moon with them and we were so happy that they liked our efforts and that we were able to spread a little bit of Christmas cheer!

18th December 2019S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

During this term, within Science lessons, Year 4 have been studying electricity. As part of our unit, we have been looking at circuits. To enrich the curriculum, we participated in a Lego workshop. We were given Lego, batteries, wires, switches, bulbs and magnetic leads, which we used to build model buildings that illuminated. Public transport was also built and put into motion. We thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon and learned a lot about circuits.

Year 3 visit Palace Green !

18th December 2019S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Year 3 had a wonderful visit to Palace Green in Durham to consolidate their knowledge about the Stoneage to Ironage period of history which they have been studying in class.

They took part in a museum trail on the different periods and enjoyed trying their hands at weaving.

They looked at, drew and described historical artefacts as well as designing and making their own coin.

Finally the children became osteo archeologists and investigated a historical skeleton. They pieced together clues to determine who the skeleton could have belonged to.
