On Tuesday 13th June, 3 teams of Year 5 pupils took part in a football tournament. We all played excellently and two of our teams received medals for winning their groups. All of the children were excellently behaved and were a credit to the school.
LITTERING
This week, Shay and Abbie spoke in assembly about littering. They told the school
that…
- Â Researchers estimate that over one million animals die each year after becoming
trapped in, or eating litter. - The most common killer of animals is plastic litter, notably impacting marine
animals. Each year more than 100,000 dolphins, fish, whales, and turtles drown after
becoming entangled or eating plastic. - Litter can become a breeding ground for bacteria and can spread disease through
direct or indirect contact with humans. It can also attract creatures such as rats. - As well as this, litter on the ground makes our local area look horrible. We should all
have pride in where we live and it is part of our responsibility to look after our
community and not litter.
We hope that this message will make everyone think a little bit more carefully about what
they do with their litter. If we all work together, we can make the world a better place!
Children enjoyed dressing in red, white and blue and enjoyed a variety of activities as part of their celebrations.
There were lots of smiling faces in our Easter Egg Raffle!
5KJ won the attendance award for Spring 2nd half. Well done!
In Year 5 we have been studying South America. We have looked at the countries and different human and physical features. We loved learning about the Amazon Rainforest and the animals that live there. We created these amazing canvases of rainforest animals using acrylic paints. We are so proud of our results!
We enjoyed taking part in this worthy cause and came to school dressed in red and paid a pound to the charity. We took part in activities also. We had a great time!
Children enjoyed a session playing with the maths games purchased from the Maths Puzzle Company. The games tested the children’s understanding of logic and ability to problem solve. We had a great time!
Following the theme for this year’s World book Day ‘You Are a Reader’, our competition asked pupils to create a picture of themselves reading a book. It could be in their favourite place like on the sofa or in the garden. They could also use their imagination and draw a picture of a place they dream of reading a book – like in a rocket or on a sunny beach.
There were lots of amazing entries, but our winners were:

| Amelia Nichol | 3AE |
