Year 3 visited Arbeia Roman Fort to end our topic on the Romans. We had an amazing time – children were given the opportunity to take part in an archaeological dig to find objects from the past; they were put through their paces in soldier training by the Centurion, Maximus and also sketched artefacts from the museum to produce a frieze for school.
During Multicultural week Year 3 have studied the country India. They spent a wonderful afternoon learning a Bollywood dance.
Year 3 had a great time re-enacting the story of Rama and Sita to help us to understand why the festival of Diwali is so important to the Hindu faith.
As part of our Stone Age topic Year 3 enjoyed a half day session with a visitor. We painted cave paintings, played a game to understand the food eaten during the period and studied artefacts from a typical Stone Age house.
