As part of our Book Fayre we sold books and also held a competition where pupils were given a range of front covers and they had to write their own blurb for one of them. One winner was chosen per class, here are our winners.
On the 12th September, Wild Dog visited our year 3 children to introduce our Stoneage topic. The children asked lots of questions and we found out lots of facts and information. After sharing replicas of artefacts used during that period of time and thinking about their uses we handled them carefully. We made our own drawings of prehistoric animals in a cave painting style using charcoal. We also practised grinding grain to make flower.
We have all been taught response actions if we ever find ourselves in a lock down or evacuation situation. We enjoyed playing games and learning 5 basic movements and responses.
3CL enjoyed a visit to the Open Zone at the Word. We worked hard to build and program Lego Wedo making a Milo robot. We also completed an hour of code where we programmed dancers to music. We had a wonderful time.
Well done to all our pupils who achieved a bronze or silver attendance award this morning. What a great turn out of parents and carers also!
On Tuesday 2nd April we held our Easter Assembly. Each year group had a question they had been working on relating to Easter.
Year 3 – What do Christians remember on Palm Sunday?
Year 4 – Why is Lent such an important period for Christians?
Year 5 – Why is The Last Supper important to Christians?
Year 6 – Why are Good Friday and Easter Sunday the most important days for Christians?
Children shared stories, pictures and work they had been working on in class to answer their question.
3KJ took part in a Shakespeare workshop. We looked at scenes from 3 plays, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest. The children enjoyed developing mimes to tell the story in the scenes and learned some important lines from each play.
On February 14th 18 Year 3 children took part in a Bench ball tournament at Boldon School. 3KJs team were fantastic and became the champions on their court. 3CL’s team also played brilliantly and ended up coming second on their court. All of the children showed great sportsmanship.
As part of World Book Day our school took part in a competition to design a national book token. Here are our winners!
As part of Maths, Science and Technology wee, Year 3 enjoyed a workshop where they learned to construct and combine “D triangles to form “D octahedrons. It was great fun!
