Staying Safe Week

Staying Safe Week

14th November to 18th November

This week is all about knowing how to stay safe in our homes, when we are out in the community, when we are online and when we are in school.  It is also Anti-Bullying Week, and the theme this year is ‘Reach Out’. The children will be consolidating what bullying is and what they already know about it. They will be exploring different situations they may find themselves in and what the different actions and consequences could be. The focus will be on ‘reaching out’ and telling a trusted adult  if the children experience or see any bullying behaviour.  The children will also explore online safety and cyberbullying culminating with ‘Friendship Friday’ where the focus will be on what a good friend is and how to sustain good friendships.
For further information, see the attached documents for parents and carers and for children and visit https://anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullying-week

Mental Health Support Group

20th October 2022a hayward

As our children navigate their way through life’s challenges, it can sometimes leave them feeling angry and they may not understand why.  If this sounds like something you experience with your child then please join us on our next Mental Health Peer Network on the 3rd November from 4pm where a representative from the Healthy Minds Team will be delivering a session on how to support your child to understand their anger/feelings and how to work through them.

Please note your child does not require a mental health diagnosis to attend the session.  The link to join the session is here: Click here to join the meeting

Multi-cultural week in Year 5!

20th October 2022S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

In Year 5, in Multi-cultural week, we have been learning about the continent of Oceania with a focus on Australia.  We have found out facts about Australia and its location in the world – did you know it is the world’s 6th biggest country? We created some amazing aboriginal inspired art work using cotton buds to create dots and we have researched different landmarks that can be found in Australia.  We worked collaboratively and created these amazing posters.  We presented what we found to the rest of the class which we really enjoyed.

Heart dissection in Year 6

5th October 2022S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Today, Katie from Science Buddies visited year 6 to dissect some lamb hearts with us. This is part of our Science learning this half term linking to ‘Staying Alive’. We explored the weight, shape and size of the heart and appearance. We discussed and identified chambers and heart strings and thought about how the heart serves us. It was so extraordinary to be hands on with an actual heart. What amazing science fun!

Roald Dahl Day

30th September 2022S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

We celebrated Roald Dahl day on his birthday (13th September). His favourite colour was yellow so we all tried to wear something yellow.  During the day we discussed some of his books and completed activities linked to these.  We held a competition linked to ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ which involved us designing our own unique sweet/chocolate bar.
