NEW – OFSTED Report

5th May 2023a hayward

Biddick Hall Junior School continues to be a good school. There is enough evidence of
improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were
to carry out a graded (section 5) inspection now. The school’s next inspection will be a
graded inspection.

Our Global Community

4th May 2023a hayward

This year, the school Council have looked at our school community and our
local community. This term, the School Council are focusing on our global
community. In our meeting, we generated ideas for how we think that we can
become better global citizens.

Some of our ideas were: stop littering, save water, stop using fossil fuels,
reducing our carbon footprint, stopping sea pollution, saving electricity, being
kind and celebrating diversity and including others no matter their differences.

Each week in our meetings, we are going to pick one of our ideas and research
it so we can write a message for the rest of the school on how they can be
better global citizens. We will deliver our message in assembly on a Friday.

11th April 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

3CL went to visit Roma Italian restaurant in Sunderland. We sampled some delicious Italian food as a final ending to our topic of Europe and Italy. The children enjoyed pizza, garlic bread, lasagne, chicken pasta and potato skins. This was followed by a selection of delicious cakes.

All children had a fantastic time and showed exceptional manners and behaviour.

Mrs Lynn was so proud.

Year 6 visited the Victors tunnels in Newcastle

11th April 2023S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Year 6 visited the Victors tunnels in Newcastle.  The Victoria Tunnel is a preserved underground wagon way that was constructed in the 19th-century to support the local coal-mining trade. Almost 100 years later, it was converted into a life-saving air-raid shelter during the Second World War.

We all had a one-hour tour underground into the Victoria Tunnel and a one-hour classroom activity where we handled original and replica artefacts and found out lots of information from a lady who lived through World War two and was trapped in a Morrison Shelter for around 7 hours when her house was bombed.  We had great fun and learned lots.

In Year 5 we have been studying South America.  We have looked at the countries and different human and physical features.  We loved learning about the Amazon Rainforest and the animals that live there. We created these amazing canvases of rainforest animals using acrylic paints.  We are so proud of our results!
