As part of ‘Sport’s Week’, two teams of Year 6 children represented our school in a Rounders Festival at Boldon School. We played brilliantly, remembering all of the advice given to us in our coaching sessions. One of our teams even won the competition, coming away with medals – what a fantastic afternoon!
On Tuesday 3rd June, a group of children from year 6 went to play basketball at the Vertu Motors Arena, home of the Newcastle Eagles.
We had a great day, winning 4 of our games, drawing 1 and losing just 2. The team played extremely well together and showed an excellent attitude towards sport during the day. We narrowly missed out on getting through to the next stage but definitely enjoyed our visit.
Year 4 had a great afternoon at South Marine Park completing an orienteering course. The 2 groups had to find 26 markers, which contained a letter and a number. Using the letters and numbers we then had a quiz to complete. Along the route there were also fun challenges to enjoy. We all enjoyed using the map and searching for the markers.
Year 4 had a great time using the skills we had learned from the rugby coach in a rugby tournament.
We all tried really hard and had a fantastic morning.
A group of 12 year 4 girls had a brilliant time playing matches at Washington Football Hub.
The girls played excellently with each other showing great team spirit and were very successful in their matches.
On Thursday 30th January, 29 Year 5 children went to the Vertu Motors Arena to take part in a Hoops4Health basketball tournament. We had a brilliant day and the children played some excellent basketball. They worked well as a team, showed great sportsmanship and were an absolute credit to their parents and the school. We were also lucky enough to meet the Eagles men’s team after one of their training sessions as they came in to give everyone a (very) high five!
On Friday 13th December 30 children from Year 4 attended the “Skip into Christmas” skipping festival at Temple Park. The children took part in a variety of skipping activities to develop fitness and have fun. We all had a great time and loved learning new skills.
On Tuesday 27th November, 28 children from Year 5 went to Temple Park Leisure Centre to take part in a sports hall athletics competition. There were 6 track events including running and obstacle relays and 6 field events including javelin and standing long jump. We all had a great day and enjoyed pushing ourselves in events that were new to us.
Great news, we’ve done it again!
