When investigating Ancient Greek theatre year 6 watched a clip and discussed the differences between modern and Ancient Greek theatre. They then researched Greek theatre masks using Ipads and designed their own. Using papier mache they constructed a mask of their own.
Year 3 had a wonderful visit to Palace Green in order to consolidate their topic of Stoneage to Ironage. We took part in different activities.
We looked at, described and drew Prehistoric artefacts.
We took part in activity trail around the museum which involved games, weaving and detective work.
We looked at the skeleton of a prehistoric man and used clues to identify his age and status.
We designed our own Ironage coin using embossing paper and tools.
That History Bloke came to visit year 6 to end our Ancient Greek topic. We had a fascinating session with him, learning even more about life in Ancient Greece. We played a game called ‘Five Men’ and used homemade pens and ink to practise writing our name in Ancient Greek writing. We really enjoyed his visit.
Year 5’s Trip to Jorvik Viking Centre, York.
On Friday, 7th December Year 5 were very fortunate to visit the Jorvik Viking Centre in York. It was an early start for the children (and staff) but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to what was once a very important Viking town. We took part in a ‘Viking Sagas’ and ‘Viking Battle Tactics’ Workshop where we all were involved in re-telling stories about the famous Norse God, Thor and also were given the chance to handle replica Viking weapons. A great time was had by all!
Year 5 enjoyed showing off the skills they have learnt playing seated volleyball in an inter-class competition against 5AE.
Year 3 were invited to take part in a Cardio Tennis Festival at Boldon School. We had a lot of fun and learned many new ball and racket skills.
We all enjoyed the pantomime ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ performed by M&M Productions.
Check out our gallery of spooky beings!
In Year 3, we had a visitor from the Stone Age. We got to see lots of artefacts from the period and even had a try at throwing a spear outside.
