On Friday 1st July, Year 4 children enjoyed learning more about the Ancient Egyptians. We found out more about Pharaohs and one of us dressed up as a Pharaoh. We learnt about the removal of the body parts once someone died and that these were placed in canopic jars. We enjoyed wrapping each other up in bandages like mummies and playing a game that the Ancient Egyptians would have played. We all had an amazing afternoon.
When I last spoke to pupils in our school, many of them said that their favourite lessons were the ones where they were able to write freely about anything they wanted. Therefore, we decided to hold a school writing competition where children were asked to write a mini saga – max 100 words about anything, in any genre. Some classes watched video clips that pupils could use as a stimulus if they were struggling to come up with ideas.
There was one winner chosen per class and all winners received a book.
Here are our winners:
Keevie Blackburn 3CL
Hannah Burden 3AE
Alex Coulson 4NW
Ella-May Grant 4NG
Sara Bainbridge 4KJ
Chloe Evans 5BA
Tyler Griffiths 5LR
Harvey Young 6FD
Gracie Smith 6GD

15 of our year 6 children took part in a cheerleading festival at the Urban factory. We firstly practiced our skills, such as; forward and backward rolls, cartwheels and leaps. We then learned a cheer routine. At the end of the day we performed the routine for the other 6 schools that were there. We had a great day.
