As part of Maths , Science and Technology Year 5 and 6 have taken part in an architecture workshop. The children learned how to construct strong 3D shapes and used then to construct larger and larger geometric structures. The children had a great time working together and learning about structural engineering.
As part of Maths, Science and Technology week, we took part in an architecture challenge which involved sticks and elastic bands. We began by creating triangles which we joined to make tetrahedrons and then we eventually ended up with an icosidodecahedron which we could climb inside! It was great fun and we learned a lot too!
On Thursday 14th February, children from set one English participated in University Safari at Newcastle University. We met with student ambassadors and had the chance to find out about life at University. We played games, wrote stories and followed a campus trail. We all thoroughly enjoyed our day out and are already planning what we might study at University!
In year 6 we are learning about World War 2. We had a visit from ‘That History Bloke’ who told us lots about that time period and showed us many artefacts. We had great fun!
Year 6 had a fantastic opportunity to visit the Urban Factory in Hebburn where we took part in activities relating to cheerleading, gymnastics and parkour. We worked well together and had great fun.
The children have all been answering different questions in RE about Christmas and what Christmas means.
Children in Year 3 have been answering the question, How and why is Advent important to Christians?
Children in Year 4 have been answering the question, Why do Christians call Jesus the light of the world?
Children in Year 5 have been answering the question, What are the themes of Christmas?
Children in Year 6 have been answering the question, What do the gospel stories tell us about the birth of Jesus?
They have found many things out and taken part in many creative activities.
That History Bloke came to visit year 6 to end our Ancient Greek topic. We had a fascinating session with him, learning even more about life in Ancient Greece. We played a game called ‘Five Men’ and used homemade pens and ink to practise writing our name in Ancient Greek writing. We really enjoyed his visit.
Year 6 visited Palace Green Museum in Durham to discover some fascinating facts about the Ancient Greeks. We investigated real and replica artefacts, put on a Greek play and made votive offerings from clay. We had a great day!
Year 6 ended their time at Biddick Hall Junior School with a party! They enjoyed an afternoon of fun and games. Good Luck everyone!
