An artist came to work with year 6 in our creative week. We created some portraits, which we drew without looking at the paper. We then creature our own sculptures of the International Space Station.
Today we held a special attendance assembly. Any child who had 100% attendance in the Autumn Term received a bronze certificate and a bronze wristband. congratulations to all!
Year 6 enjoyed their Christmas Party!
As part of our Book Fayre we sold books and also held a competition where pupils were given a range of front covers and they had to write their own blurb for one of them. One winner was chosen per class, here are our winners.
As part of our topic of Electricity, we had a practical session with four carousel activities where we investigated how to make lights brighter, dimmer and we also found out how motors faster or slower. We all had a great fun and learned a lot!
As part of multicultural week, we had a visitor who taught us some Greek dancing. It was great fun!
We visited the Fire Station for the RAP in order to learn about how to Reduce Accidents at Play. It was really interesting to find out about the RNLI, drugs, road/metro safety and electrical pylons and substations.
Yesterday, the girl’s football team played in their first tournament of the season at Boldon School.
We played three matches: the first match was against St Aloysius where we drew 1-1; we played Hedworth Lane in our second match and lost 1-0 and in our final match against Fellgate, we won 4-0.
We saw some spectacular goals from Hannah and Ellie but the whole team played extremely well. It has been a good start to the tournament, our skills continue to improve and we’re excited for our next match.
That History Bloke visited our year 6 children to introduce our Ancient Greece topic. Enquiring minds asked lots of questions and we were wowed by some scintillating facts and information. After sharing replicas of artefacts used during that period of time and thinking about their uses we handled them carefully and also enjoyed playing some Ancient Greek games. We learned about democracy and the voting process and enjoyed voting.
