As part of our work in Children’s Mental Health week, we thought about doodling ‘Zen patterns’ and how this form of expression could help us with our emotions. We found it really relaxing, listening to some classical music whilst doodling.
When we had finished our doodles, we chose two of them which we liked the best and used printing ink and polystyrene tiles to print an alternating pattern. It was great fun and we were really proud of our work!
Fitness challenges this weekend were to challenge a classmate or family member to throw beanbags into a hoop or to try the challenge with rolled up socks into a laundry basket. On Sunday, you could create a fun dance to your favourite song. Sophie and Penny had fun doing both activities.
In our history lesson this week, we learned about the Blitz. Children were set the challenge of producing a picture which depicted the Blitz using whatever mediums were available. Just like the children at school, our children who are working at home produced some lovely art work.
Next week we are going to be taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week, organised by Place2Be. The theme of the week is ‘EXPRESS YOURSELF.’ We are going to achieve this through finding creative ways to share feelings, thoughts or ideas, through things like art, writing, music , dance and doing things that make you feel good.
We will be doing loads of activities at school and those working remotely at home will be asked to join in. Keep checking your Google Classroom to see what is going on in your class.
The weekend fitness challenges were to keep a balloon up in the air for 60 seconds and to walk to a landmark, historical place or a favourite local spot.
In our History lessons, we have been learning about the Battle of Britain. We drew planes following step-by-step instructions. Some of the children at home shared their fabulous art work with their teacher!
As part of our art lessons in year 6, both in the classroom and as part of remote learning, we researched hat designers and then designed and made our own prototype from paper.
We had great fun making cushions! We used cross stitch, applique and reverse applique to decorate our cushions and sewed them together with a running stitch. Lots of us have made them as surprise Christmas presents!
We had a great time at our party!
We used mod-roc to make Ancient Greek lyres. We began with dowel, plastic sheeting, newspaper and wire to create the structure. Then we covered it with mod-roc. In our next lesson, we’ll be decorating them and adding strings.
