Year 6 had a fabulous time at Nissan.

2nd March 2026S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

Year 6 had a fabulous time at Nissan. They went on a Nissan coach and arrived at the Nissan Education Centre where they took part in lots of fun activities: a Lego car making factory line, a Lego car creative build competition, talks about Nissan and apprenticeships and jobs for the future. They had a delicious snack and drink and also toured the workshop where they met Woody the robot who used coding to create car designs. Later in the afternoon, they played a response/reaction machine game and had a go at production line tasks like hammering out bumps in body panelling of cars, screwing and unscrewing industrial car joins, searching for nuts and bolts and speed tasks. The day was brilliant fun and the presenters from Nissan, Karen and Robyn made the day exceptional.

Friday 6th February 2026 was Number Day!

10th February 2026S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

We came to school dressed with a number focus and spent the day exploring number with a focus on estimation.

  • We made pictures from numbers.
  • Estimation Activity – We got given pictures and the we had to order the pictures on from smallest to largest. We discussed how we did it and then gave our best estimate of the amount.
  • We did a fun number Scavenger Hunt around the school. We estimated first then had to go around the school finding our if we were right!
  • We had fun creating a page for a Number Book for a younger child. Mrs Rennie is going to send them to the Infant School as a stapled book.
  • We found out if we were Smartie Pants! We had to guess how many Smarties were in a tube. We then had to think of the colours of the smarties and estimate how many of each colour there might be.
  • We estimated how much it would cost to buy enough apples for every child in our class to have 1/4. We then got to check and eat the apple!

In Year 5, children have been learning about South and West African music.

2nd February 2026S Admin (Biddick Hall Juniors)

In Year 5, children have been learning about South and West African music. They have sung a traditional African song called ‘Shosholoza’ and played chords using glocks to accompany the song. They then added traditional African movements to their song and class 5LR then performed this as an ensemble in front of the whole school. We all enjoyed watching this fantastic performance!

Congratulations on Excellent Outcomes for students from Bridget Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education

29th January 2026a hayward
Mrs Collinson received an email earlier this week from Bridget Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education, congratulating our school community.  This is what she said:

“Congratulations to you and your team on the excellent outcomes the disadvantaged pupils at Biddick Hall Junior School achieved at the end of the 2024/25 academic year. Your school’s performance places it among the very best nationally, and this is a significant achievement.

This success reflects the dedication of your staff and the hard work of your pupils. It shows what can be achieved when ambition and commitment come together. Thank you for everything you do to give children the best possible opportunities to succeed.

Your school’s achievements demonstrate what is possible, and I hope you will continue to share your experience and best practice with others. Even the strongest schools can go further. We encourage you to lead the way as a system leader – sharing effective practice, championing networks, supporting collaboration, and helping raise standards across the sector.

Please pass on my thanks and congratulations to your staff and pupils. I look forward to working with you as we strive together to raise standards for all.”
