4CL and 4AW had a great day at Jarrow Hall. We walked around a working Anglo Saxon farm. We listened to the Beowulf story in the grand hall around a roaring fire
We took part in a burial ceremony and finished the day with a battle re-enactment.

Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic day at Temple Park, taking part in a Multi-Skills Challenge. There were several stations to experience which targeted skills such as throwing and catching, ball control, speed and agility, aiming at a target and teamwork.
We took part in a World War 2 work shop ran by ‘That History Bloke’. We learned about what it was like for people to live through World War Two and listened to some real accounts of situations people lived through. We also got to examine many artefacts and find out what they were used for. Pupils back then would be taught how to recognise British and enemy planes to keep themselves as safe as they could, we played a game where we had to try to identify various WW2 planes. It was great fun but trickier than we thought!
STEM (Science, Technology, Maths and Engineering) is a very interesting area that is integrated with so many jobs. Y5 were visited by some of The Newcastle Eagles women’s team and we explored how STEM is used in sport – basketball in particular. We calculated percentages and ratios for points scored and assists; looked at product design for sportswear and accessories and even got to do some basketball as well! We loved our afternoon and learned a lot.
Year 4 had a great morning at Temple Park taking part in different track and field events.
We took part in a range of STEM activities ran by the Eagles women’s basketball team. We discussed the various jobs that people can do linked to sport, the importance of exercise and also about how to keep our bodies healthy. We had great fun and learned a lot.
Some of Year 4 enjoyed a ‘Skip into Xmas Festival’ at Temple Park.
